In addition to the Lagrangian description of the system, the Hamiltonian description can also be used.

The Hamiltonian $\mathscr{H}$ can be constructed as follows

$\mathscr{H}=\sum _n{p}_n{\dot{q}}_n-ℒ$

Where $p$ is the momentum, $q$ is the position, and $ℒ$ is the Lagrangian.
