Re-finding the ODF link

Hello, I have a book:

with a collection:

and would like to find the URL for the ODF version of the collection.

I have not seen this provided automatically, but you could always download the ODF file and then upload it to Wikimedia Commons using the "Upload file" option in the "Toolbox" menu. This would store your collection at a fixed URL. Or alternatively you could upload the file to another host like Google docs, if you have a gmail account. Translations?

I would like to translate a certain Wikibook from English to Greek, am I allowed to do that? Note that I am not a professional translator.

Yes you are. Just remember to select one of our licenses if the resulting translation is for distribution. You could also use the Greek version of the Wikibooks project as a repository of the translation (remembering that Wikibooks projects aren't static and that the English and Greek version may diverge from each-other). --Panic (discuss • contribs) 11:00, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Adding an image

That image was uploaded locally at Wikipedia. I will transfer it to Commons, so it can be used by all projects. It's a pet peeve of mine that Wikipedia doesn't do what we did, and direct uploads to Commons and have people request to be added to an uploader group. Non-free files used under fair use terms should be scrutinized more closely and if you have people that are a member of a group, you know whose upload logs to patrol. A Fancy Mechanism for Creating PDF Versions

Although Wikibooks is not paper according to the official policies, the amount of print ready books and books with PDF versions shows that the community is interested in creating printable version of Wikibooks. It is well known that a lot of books especially those in sciences are typeset with $\mathrm{L}{}^{{}_{\mathrm{A}}}\mathrm{T}{}_{\mathrm{E}}\mathrm{X}$. There is even a wikibook on LaTeX. Thus we made converter that imports wikibooks into $\mathrm{L}{}^{{}_{\mathrm{A}}}\mathrm{T}{}_{\mathrm{E}}\mathrm{X}$. We packaged it with all necessary software and made it available for download. We also made some PDFs and uploaded them to wikibooks.

Well you got the whole power of $\mathrm{L}{}^{{}_{\mathrm{A}}}\mathrm{T}{}_{\mathrm{E}}\mathrm{X}$, a professional typesetting system. You can customise really everything (fonts, margins, custom templates, etc.). So this is really cool if your are a publisher and want to print it as a book. And most importantly for me as a physicist, the formulas make it into the PDF as vector graphics, so they don't look foggy when printed on a laser printer, and actually turn readable that way. And about your point of having to manually upload the PDF. You can of course download the program and run it on your computer, and thus produce an up to date PDF. The PDF generator currently integrated in the wiki software, essentially does something similar, just running on one of wikimedias computers. We need yet another crat, and yet another CU

While not exactly required from policy, Wikibooks badly needs another crat and another CU. User:Thenub314's activity has been very limited, so Adrignola is the only active crat/CU. Which not only burdens Adrignola's workload but also means there's no means (no pun intended) of confirming Adrignola's actions. Kayau Template:Toolbar 16:24, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, let me just make the statement that I have no plans to go off the reservation any time soon... The renaming log and user rights log for anything I'd do as a bureaucrat are both public information, should you wish to check any of my actions. For 'crat actions there's always stewards at Meta to add rights should all bureaucrats disappear, as often as we elect an admin. Beyond that, there's really no workload you need to worry about burdening me. I just did a rename today and the last time that had to be done was... a month ago. Regarding CUs, I don't think there's enough community-wide participation to meet the requirements that must be met for another CU election. Of course, the stewards can add rights any time, but I don't see why we can't do something to prevent the need of a steward when we can do something to prevent it. QU's already stated that he'd accept a crat nomination; I'll nominate him in a moment.
