Analysis

Assume that the transistor is ideal.

VB=ViR2R2+R1
VE=VB0.7=VB
IE=VER4=VBR4
IC=IE
VC=ICR4
VC=Vi(1R3R4R2R2+R1)

When R2>>R1 or R1 = 0. The equation above is reduced to

VC=Vi(1R3R4)
R3 = 0 , VC=Vi
R3 = R4 , VC=0
R3 = 2R4 , VC=Vi
R3 = (n+1)4 , VC=nVi

When R3=R4. The equation above is reduced to

VC=Vi(1R2R2+R1)

When R1 = 0 or R2 = 0,

VC=Vi . Transistor operates like a closed switch

When R2 >> R1

VC=0 . Transistor operates like an opened switch

With the right biased voltage at the base, the transistor can be operated like a mechanical switch.
