Price's Theorem states that as n

cos(θ2)cos(θ4)cos(θ8)...cos(θ2n)sinθθ.

Lemma

As n,2nsin(θ2n)θ.

Proof of lemma

As n,θ2n0 hence sin(θ2n)θ2n1. Rearranging, the result follows.

Proof of theorem

sin(θ)=2sin(θ2)cos(θ2)=22sin(θ4)cos(θ4)cos(θ2)=...

Thus

cos(θ2)cos(θ4)...cos(θ2n)=sin(θ)2nsin(θ2n)

The result then follows from the lemma.

This theorem is due to Bartholomew Price (1818-1898).
